This is one of the drawings referred to in the annexed contract between the Great Western Railway Company and Mr. George Findlater bearing date the 11th day of January 1840. The drawing is signed by Brunel and George Findlater.

Copy of contract and tender between Mr George Findlater and the Great Western Railway Company for Findlater to complete a tunnel at Middle Hill, in the Parish of Box. Contract includes information for the schedule of the works to take place and a description of the works to take place. The Contract is dated 18th October 1839 and it was signed by George Findlater.

First drawing is of trannsverse section of tunnel, second drawing is of longitudinal section of tunnel, third drawing is of embankment no. 1, fourth drawing is of embankment no. 2 East of Middle Hill Lane Bridge, fifth drawing is of embankment no. 3 West of Middle Hill Lane Bridge. This is one of the drawings referred to in the Contract between the Great Western Railway Company and Mr. Hugh Hart for the open cutting of Contract 15B, the tender for which Contract bears date the 5th day of June 1839. The drawing is signed by Hugh Hart and a witness.
